Detroit Lions vs. Baltimore Ravens Prediction, Pick, Odds

If you have been following my picks, last weekend was a success betting on NFL games. Through week 6 I am now 14/19 or 73% on my picks against the spread. A Raiders’ safety saved my Raiders -3 pick against the Patriots, but I will take it.

The Lions have been playing very well so far this season. Against the Buccaneers, a game that should have been close, ended up being another dominant performance by the Lions. The final score was 20-6. The surprising aspect of this game was the Lions defense, which was able to shut down the Buccaneers and hold them to 6 points.

The Ravens have a 4-2 record, but it does not feel like it. They beat the Titans in London 24-16, with one TD pass from Lamar Jackson and 6 field goals by Justin Tucker. The Ravens struggled in the red zone, and, which I believe will be an issue against the Lions. Read my Lions vs. Ravens Prediction, Pick, Odds below.

Lions vs. Ravens Prediction

The Lions are now ranked 4th overall offensively, averaging 384 YPG. This comes with the 7th ranked passing offense and 9th ranked rushing offense, averaging 270 YPG and 124 YPG. The Lions may take a step back in the running game. Running back David Montgomery left the game against the Buccaneers with a rib injury and could miss a few weeks. The Lions’ rushing attack will be led by Jahmyr Gibbs (pending hamstring injury status) and Craig Reynolds. There is hype surrounding Gibbs, but he is still unproven and coming off injury. This is my only concern for the Lions this week. Goff has been on a terror and I expect that to continue against the Ravens.

I do not trust the Ravens. This team does not pass the eye test and in my opinion have not been tested by a proven team yet. I watched the Ravens vs Titans matchup in London this week. The Ravens struggled to score against a mediocre Titans’ defense, ranking 18th overall defensively.

The last four games for the Ravens have been against questionable quarterbacks and bad offenses. These games include the Colts (L), Cleveland (W), Pittsburgh (L), and Tennessee (W). These games featured either a bad starting quarterback or a backup, not impressive games from the Ravens.

I predict this game will be a wake up call for the Ravens and will reveal as to whether or not they are for real. I am not discounting wins in the NFL, all wins are weighted the same, but the context of the Ravens’ wins lead to more questions. The Ravens are now up against one of the top offenses and defenses in the league, the only reason I believe why this spread is close is because the Ravens are at home and the Lions have some injuries.

I am taking the Lions to cover +2.5. They have some injuries leading to questions in the running game, but this team is on a roll and is more proven than the Ravens.
