I was successful on 2/3 of my picks last week. This puts my picks at 16/25, or a 64% success rate. This is a good run so far this season and has proven to be lucrative. Let’s keep this momentum going for week 9!

The Colts visit the Panthers this Sunday, which will be a matchup between quarterbacks looking to prove themselves. The Colts lost to the Saints 38-27 in week 8. The Colts defense was unable to stop a struggling Saints offense, which is a concern I will look at in this prediction. 

The Panthers earned their first victory against the Texans, winning 15-13. The Panthers’ defense was able to slow down the fiery Houston offense. Colts vs. Panthers Prediction

The Colts rank 7th in overall offense, averaging 362 yards per game. They have a strong running game, which is ranked 9th overall, averaging 129 yards per game. Gardner Minshew has been at the helm of this offense and it has been exciting, but not effective. Minshew has thrown 7 TDs and 5 interceptions this season.  The volatility of this team has been leading to its downfall. The Colts rank 28th defensively, allowing an average of 371 yards per game. The Colts are able to put up points, but their defense cannot stop anyone.

The Panthers have a strong defense, it is ranked 12th overall, allowing an average of 326 yards of total offense. The Panthers have proven to be able to limit passing production. Their passing defense is ranked 6th, allowing an average of 203 yards per game. They limited C.J. Stroud to 140 passing yards and 0 touchdowns in week 8. 

With all of this in mind, I believe the Panthers will be able to keep this game close. Their defense will limit production from Minshew and have a good chance forcing interceptions giving Bryce Young more opportunities to put up some points. Facing a weak Colts’ defense will also help boost some production from Young and the offense as well. This is a close spread, but I believe this game will be decided by 2 points or less. The Panthers will have some momentum going into week 9 and they are at home, which I believe will be a factor here. My pick is Panthers +2.5.
