New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction, Pick, Odds

Breaking news in Las Vegas! After their disastrous performance against the Lions in week 8, the Raiders have fired their head coach Josh McDaniels. There was visible frustration among Raiders players, particularly from Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs during and after the game. The Raiders announced their interim head coach is linebackers coach Antonio Pierce. The Raiders have also fired their general manager, offensive coordinator, and benched quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. This news makes this prediction analysis more interesting and adds another layer of variables that must be considered.

The Giants are coming off of a tough overtime loss to the Jets in week 8. Both offenses struggled, but that is not saying much when looking at both offenses and quarterbacks. The Giants have not lived up to their success last season. This matchup features a desperate Giants team and Raiders team in the middle of a soul searching quest. Read my prediction, pick, and odds below.

Giants vs. Raiders Prediction

It will be challenging to gauge the Raiders’ offense with so many changes taking place. I expect Davante Adams to be incorporated in the offense more, since he voiced his frustration after their week 8 game against the Lions. The question remains, how successful will Aidan O’Connell be in feeding Adams the ball? O’Connell has thrown for 313 yards this season, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions. He averages 156 passing yards per game and 6 yards per passing attempt. With such a small sample size, I cannot make a confident prediction as to how effective the passing game will be this Sunday. I expect the run game to be established early, Josh Jacobs is more than capable of controlling the tempo of the offense. This will help O’Connell settle into the game plan and minimize mistakes and possibly have some big plays to Adams.

The Giants rank 32nd offensively, averaging 268 yards per game. The defense ranks 20th, allowing an average of 339 yards per game. Daniel Jones has been disappointing this season and has thrown 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions this season. Jones has been sacked 28 times which will factor into this matchup against the Raiders. I believe the Giants’ offense will continue to struggle against the Raiders. Defensive end Max Crosby will have a big game and make some clutch defensive plays to help out the struggling Raiders’ offense.

There is some merit to teams coming off a head coach firing and wins the following week.I believe the Raiders as a whole, will be more motivated this week. This is probably why Vegas has the spread in favor of the Raiders. My bet is on the Raiders to cover the -1.5 spread. They will win this game by at least a field goal, I would not be surprised if they win by more.
