In my Lions vs. Chargers Prediction, Pick, and Odds article I picked the Lions to cover the -2.5 spread. I believe the Lions defense will limit production from Justin Herbert and offense enough for Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense to seal victory by at least a field goal. I expect a big game from Jared Goff, who is facing a terrible Chargers’ passing defense. When the Chargers get in the red zone, they lean heavily on Austin Ekeler to punch in touchdowns. Jared Goff is already averaging 271 passing yards per game. Goff will be playing against the 32nd ranked passing defense that allows an average of 314 passing yards per game. Goff and the Lions rank 2nd in overall offense, averaging 391 yards per game. Another factor to consider is the return of David Montgomery, if he is cleared to play on Sunday, this will only help the passing game more. I expect Goff to feast this game and pass for over 300 yards.

Austin Ekeler Over 1.5 Touchdowns (Waiting for odds to be released)

Austin Ekeler is the engine of this Chargers’ offense. If he is having a good game, the Chargers have a good chance at winning. Ekeler appeared to hit his stride against the elite Jets defense in week 9. Ekeler had 2 rushing touchdowns this game. When the Chargers are in the red zone, they rely on Ekeler, either by being a pass catcher or rushing the ball. My pick is for Ekeler to have at least 1 touchdown this game, either receiving or rushing. A riskier bet, but I still have confidence in, would be to bet on Ekeler over 1.5 touchdowns. Assess your risk tolerance, but keep in mind, Ekeler is this offense right now, especially against elite defenses.
