Detroit Lions vs. Carolina Panthers Player Prop Picks
In my Lions vs Panthers Prediction, Pick, Odds I picked the Lions -9.5. This is my pick primarily due to the Lions ranking 8th overall on offense, averaging 386 YPG. The Panthers do have a respectable defense, ranking 14th overall, and 6th in passing defense. However I believe the Lions’ offense will be too much, Goff and company will have a great game at home. Lions Vs. Panthers Player Prop Picks
David Montgomery Over Rushing Yards (Waiting for odds to be released)
David Montgomery had a field day against the Packers in week 4. Montgomery ran for 121 yards and 3 TDs. I expect more of the same from Montgomery week 5 against the Panthers. The Panthers rank 27th in rushing defense, allowing an average of 136 YPG. I expect the Lions to establish the run game early, get a comfortable lead, and then run the ball a lot. This will feature a heavy dose of Montgomery. Take the over on rushing yards.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Over Receiving Yards (Waiting for odds to be released)
The return of Jameson Williams, who’s gambling suspension ends this week, will be a huge boost in passing production for the Lions. Just having another threat in the passing game will open up more opportunities for Amon-Ra St. Brown to work against single coverage or for Goff and St. Brown to take advantage of blown coverages. St. Brown has been averaging 82 YPG so far this season and if his odds say anywhere around 82 YPG, I recommend taking the over. Keep an eye on St. Brown’s status this week, he is questionable going into this game.
Miles Sanders or Chuba Hubbard Under Rushing Yards(Waiting for odds to be released)
The Lions defense is allowing an average of 61 YPG rushing. This puts them at 1st overall in the NFL. Overall the Panthers offense is ranked 25th, averaging 283 YPG. They are not a strong running team or passing team. Panthers rookie QB Bryce Young has thrown for 503 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs so far this season. Myles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard average 40 YPG and 30 YPG each. Looking at all these stats, if I were the Lions, I would completely eliminate the Panthers run game and force them to pass. Essentially daring Young to beat them in the air, which I don’t believe can happen. In consequence to this game plan, both Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders will have low yardage rushing. I recommend taking the under on their rushing yards.
