Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Player Prop Picks

In my Detroit Lions Prediction, Pick, Odds article I emphasized how dominant the Lions have been on both sides of the ball. The Lions currently have the 6th ranked offense and defense; averaging 384 YPG and allowing an average of 293 YPG. The Buccaneers have been winning games too, just not as dominant as the Lions. The Bucs rank 22nd in offense and 11th in defense. The Lions have played tougher defenses so far this season, I do not anticipate much resistance from the Bucs. I expect this dominant Lions’ run to continue which leads to my player prop picks below.

Jared Goff Under Passing Yards (Waiting for odds to be released)

There is still some merit on Jared Goff’s passing yards and overall performance and home games. Last season Goff played exceptionally better at home compared to road games. This game is in Tampa Bay. I expect Jared Goff to hover around 240 yards passing this game, slightly below his average of 253 YPG.. This means scoring will come from somewhere else, which plays into my next player prop pick.

David Montgomery Over Rushing Yards (Waiting for odds to be released)

David Montgomery has been a powerhouse running back so far this season. Montgomery is averaging 93 YPG on the ground and has 6 TDs. Montgomery should have no problem running against the Buc’s defense which is ranked 25th in rushing defense, allowing an average of 94 YPG. This is around Montgomery’s rushing average, I would not be surprised if he eclipses 100 yards rushing this game, especially if the Lions lean on him more this game. Take the over on Montgomery’s rushing yards.

Rachaad White Under Rushing Yards (Waiting for odds to be released)

The Buccaneers running game is the weaker part of their offense. The Bucs rank 25th in rushing offense, averaging 87 YPG. The Lions rank 3rd in rushing defense, limiting offenses to 68 YPG on the ground. Rachaad White averages 52 YPG running the ball. I predict his rushing total at the end of this game to be around 40 yards. If the Bucs win this game, it will be due to Baker Mayfield balling out. Also, if the Bucs fall behind early they may ditch the running game, further limiting White’s yard total.
